POFF Pamela S. Poff has over 30 years of experience as a senior employment lawyer in the governmental arena, as a partner in a major law firm and in senior level corporate positions. She has litigated cases and defended employers throughout the U.S., the Caribbean, Canada, Asia and Europe. She also has gathered considerable expertise in the areas of Global Human Resources and Data Protection. Prior to creating her own business, for the past 10 Н years, Ms. Poff served as Deputy General Counsel/Senior Vice President at UBS Financial Services Inc. (formerly PaineWebber). There she had global responsibilities for employment law and litigation, policy interpretation and development, case management, training and alternate dispute resolution. She was in fact one of three team members who created the company’s FAIR Program, Wall Street’s first voluntary alternate dispute resolution forum. Ms. Poff has also been a partner with the national law firm of Jackson Lewis, which represents management only in all areas of labor law, employee relations and benefits. In this capacity she represented management before the EEOC and before various federal and state courts and civil rights agencies. She has defended corporations, colleges and universities, governmental entities and non-profits and has been integrally involved in the development and administration of policies, affirmative action, diversity employment laws and human resource management for those organizations. Ms. Poff was formerly Director of the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights with direct reporting responsibility to the Attorney General. In this capacity, she was encharged with enforcing the state civil rights law. She established policies and procedures for the overall administrative, fiscal, personnel and enforcement functions of the agency. Prior to this assignment, she served as Deputy Director with responsibility for coordinating all enforcement functions and field operations. She also was an advisor for several years to Clarence Thomas on “excellence in agency case processing” while he was Chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Previously as Corporate Equal Opportunity Compliance Manager for the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company, Ms. Poff developed and implemented Affirmative Action and EEO Compliance Programs in Mutual’s Eastern and Western home offices and 26 field offices throughout the United States. She developed many of their diversity and affirmative action programs to enhance the retention and promotional opportunities for minorities and women. Ms. Poff holds a B.A. degree in History, Magna Cum Laude, from Upsala College and a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law. She also holds a degree from the SMG program of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Ms. Poff is a regular guest speaker on civil rights laws for professional associations, has published in her field and also hosted the local Radio and TV Show entitled “Know Your Rights.” Ms. Poff, a trained mediator and arbitrator, is a long term adjunct faculty member of Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations. Throughout her career she has had the privilege of training over 100,000 supervisors and managers around the world in both the private and public sectors. She is also a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association (ACCA), a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Committee, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York Labor and Employment Law Committee, the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association, the National Corporate Counsel Association, the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators and the American Arbitration Association. Recently Ms.Poff was asked to serve as a judge/arbitrator at the International Arbitration Competition sponsored by Fordham Law School. She frequently lectures on the topic of Alternate Dispute Resolution. Ms. Poff is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Panel of Neutrals where she is a mediator and arbitrator.
